A consummate career-woman
Over the last thirty years, Ann Alexander has built an exceptional career across a range of disciplines. From law to business consultancy, from communications training to broadcasting and now into the travel business. Ann’s winning combination of business skills, innovative approach and driving ambition has ensured success in all her career paths.
Perhaps best known for her groundbreaking work in the medical law field, Ann’s firm ‘Alexander Harris’ gained a formidable reputation through its accomplished handling of numerous high-profile cases. One of the first law firms to specialise in medical negligence, its tireless campaigns to obtain justice for clients led to many changes in NHS practices and patient services. In 2006, Ann merged Alexander Harris with Irwin Mitchell, and became a consultant. Still frequently contacted about issues surrounding her cases, Ann has now left the arena of full-time legal practice.
In May 2007, Ann began to develop her consultancy and training work based on the many approaches she received from legal and other professionals who were looking for advice on how to better develop themselves and their businesses. She now runs a business consultancy providing advice on all aspects of business development and strategy. Ann also forms one half of the Alexander Macdonald partnership which specializes in media and communications training.
Documentary maker & Broadcaster
After founding Alexander Harris, Ann frequently appeared in the press as a result of the media attention that her higher-profile cases inevitably attracted. Always available for a quote, Ann’s views soon became sought after on medico-legal matters and related issues. Ann became a regular contributor and an informed commentator on a wide range of TV and radio programmes including BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme, You and Yours, PM, World at One, Law in Action, Women’s Hour and BBC 2′s Newsnight. Ann has presented on BBC Radio Manchester’s Business Programme and has contributed to City Talk 105.9FM. She now makes occasional documentaries and has so far researched, written and presented several documentary programmes for BBC Radio 4 including the award winning “File on 4″ , and an “Inside Out” half hour special for BBC 1. Ann has more documentary work in the pipeline and is always looking for new ideas.
In 2010 Ann’s long held love affair with all things Italian culminated in her buying and restoring a house in the beautiful medieval hilltop village of Montisi in Southern Tuscany. As she began to spend more time in Italy, Ann developed an idea for week long creative breaks in this beautiful area and in October 2012 invited a pilot group to sample the delights of the area, cooking, painting, wine-tasting, touring historic towns and much more. It was such a success that Montisi Magica was launched in 2013.
